Independence

Community presence is very important to us here at Breagha House and we utilise all amenities available to us as part of everyday life and the running of the home, which ensures our individuals are an integral part of the local community and all it has to offer.  The people we support regularly use the local shop and have helped deliver leaflets to support them being integral in the community. The people that live at Breagha also take part in a work place scheme which allows them to gain work experience and meet new people.

Daily life

All of the people we supports’ activities are bespoke to their needs and wants and all individually planned. These range from horse-riding, rebound therapy, animal activities, rock climbing and dog walking. Keyworkers plan extra activities on individuals’ requests or likes. We promote and encourage each person to be as independent as possible giving them a sense of ownership and belonging within a homely, safe environment.

All the individuals within the home take part in a weekly meeting to discuss any activities they may like to partake in during the following week. They also meal plan for the following week – individuals are encouraged to plan a healthy and nutritional menu which caters for all dietary requirements. Some of the people we support within the home have gym memberships which not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also encourages community integration.
