Welcome
Meaning “house by woods”, Tigh Cranntail is a nine bedroom detached home in a small village that was recognised in history as the manor’s strategic position at the heart of Sherwood. The village’s position is still crucial today as it straddles the shortest gap between the northern and central parts of the forest where the River Maun cuts through the forest. It was the available water from the River Maun and the Vicar Water Brook that sustained the medieval village.
Our approach
Within Tigh Cranntail we are dedicated to providing a happy and settled home environment for the people we support in a comfortable atmosphere that promotes dignity and respect, independence, privacy, fulfilment, equality and choice. We are thoroughly committed in supporting our individuals to progress and integrate within the wider community.
The high staffing levels that we provide ensure that individuals are able to partake in as many activities as possible, enabling them to become an integral part of both the local and wider community as well as promoting independence skills.
We believe every individual has the right to live life to the full and we encourage our young adults through support and encouragement to do so.
Independence
Young adults who live with us are given opportunities to continue to learn and develop new skills as well as develop their independence skills. We promote and encourage our individuals to be as independent as possible giving them a sense of ownership and belonging within a homely, safe environment as well as the wider community. We pride ourselves on building person-centred relationships with each of the people we support catering to individual needs, enabling them, with support, to be at the centre of all decisions within their own lives.
Daily life
Within the home we offer in-house therapeutic sessions which is available to all young adults including speech and language therapists, music therapy, messy/sensory play and sporting activities which are provided to each person within our extensive garden grounds.
Community presence is very important to us and we utilise all amenities available to us as part of everyday life and in the running of the home, which ensures the people we support are an integral part of the local community and all it has to offer.
There are a wealth of local places to see such as King John’s Palace, Parliament Oak, Archway House, the Flood Dykes, Clipstone Park water meadows and many more. There is access locally to the famous Sherwood Forest and the legend of Robin Hood plays a huge part in the local community. We are ideally placed to benefit from the many local walks and cycling tracks. Mansfield is our nearest town and as such provides all of the local amenities you would expect. Our young adults have the opportunity to engage with facilities the town of Mansfield offers such as hydrotherapy, ‘autism friendly’ horse riding sessions, ‘autism friendly’ trampolining sessions as well as cinemas, bowling and much more. Mansfield is accessible through local transportation which further promotes independence to the people we support.
